Group project, Aug 2018 – Dec 2018
Our design brief asked for an immersive experience that tells a story without dialogue or characters and that loosely combines three unrelated fables/myths. Our instructor structured the brief such that the resulting products would be abstract and require us to focus on developing textures and visual elements to communicate our stories.
We chose our myths individually and we were randomly paired to form groups. Our group’s challenge was to find a way to combine the Greek myths of Medusa, Morpheus, and the Minotaur.
We chose to use a first-person, follow-the-trail game mechanic to create a surrealist interpretation of Sabrina Butler-Smith’s story of loss, prosecutorial misconduct, and gender-based discrimination. We felt that her story was important to tell and represented the themes behind each of our Greek myths.
